We are based in Melbourne, Australia. However, our online store brings us right to you, no matter where you are! 

Sapphire glass is actually a crystal, which is synthetically made by grinding the natural compound aluminum oxide into a powder and heating it to temperatures of at least 1,982 degrees celsius, before it is cut with diamond saws and polished into the beautiful glass-like product found on our watches. 

Why do we use it? 

While there are three types of glass commonly used in watch making (sapphire crystals; mineral crystals; and Plexiglas (often called plastic) or hesalite (acrylic) crystals), sapphire glass is the preferred choice for luxury watch makers due to its extreme resilience to scratches and shattering. Despite it being the more expensive of the three options, this greater ability to withstand cracks and breaks than glass or plastic's makes it all worthwhile. 

ATM (or atmospheres) is a unit of pressure, often used to indicate how well watches are sealed against the ingress of water, and can also be expressed as 'bar' or 'meters'.

As a general indication of water resistance, please see the following guide:

3 ATM or 30m - Suitable for everyday use (washing hands and light splashes).
5 ATM or 50m - Suitable for everyday use, including showering, bathing, and light water immersion.
10 ATM or 100m - Suitable for swimming, but not diving.
20 ATM or 200m - Suitable for serious surface water sports.
100+ ATM or 1000+m - Suitable for all water activities, including diving.

Note:

1. Always keep the crown securely pushed in at all times when around water.
2. Always rinse off sea water if the watch is exposed to it, as salt water can damage and cause corrosion of certain materials.
3. Avoid directing pressurised jets of water onto the watch, as this can rupture to water resistance seal.

Our watches use the Japanese Miyota GL30 Quartz Movement.

Our automatic quartz watches are generally more consistently accurate than mechanical watches, with an aggregate of +/- 20 seconds per month when worn under normal conditions.  

Yes, we offer a 12-month warranty on all our watches.

Our watches are made from a combination of different materials, depending on the watch you purchase.

The case of all our watches is made from 304 stainless steel, and the glass is sapphire glass. 

Our straps vary in materials, depending on your preference. The mesh straps are made from 304 stainless steel, while our leather straps are made from genuine leather.

Our watches are designed and crafted as one-size-fits-all. We have opted for a face diameter of 40mm, which is suitable for most wrists, to take the stress of picking sizes off your shoulders. Furthermore, our straps are adjustable in size. 

All relevant measurements are displayed in each individual product description.

Yes. All our stainless steel mesh straps can be adjusted by hand within the limitations of the length of the band, by sliding the position of the clasp. 



Our genuine leather straps can be fitted in line with the holes punched into the band. 

Yes, our smart release straps are specifically designed to be easily changed without the use of any special tools.

Our watches are operated by a reliable Miyota movement which is assembled in Japan using only parts manufactured in their Japanese plants, to ensure a high quality standard. 

The casing and straps of our timepieces are crafted and assembled in China by our respectable manufacturing partner.

Our Gift Certificates are emailed directly to your inbox, as an electronic voucher, so that a physical card cannot be misplaced. We are currently offering FREE Standard Shipping + tracking on all orders over AUD $180.

For all orders up to AUD $179.99, we charge a flat-rate of $9.99 per shipment to any Australian or New Zealand delivery address. All shipments will have full tracking available.

Alexandria Books holds stock on hand and also sources items directly from suppliers and distributors. 

As such, each product you order from Alexandria Books will have a specified transit time depending on its availability. Any shipping estimate starts after the transit time and excludes weekends and public holidays. You will also receive a notification when your order has shipped. 

Occasionally stock runs out before our website can be updated. In this scenario, if you are affected you will be notified and alternative arrangement can be made. 

In the lead up to, and during peak shopping periods, such as Valentines Day, Black Friday, Christmas etc., please allow an extra 5-10 business days due to the high volume of orders and subsequent stress on postal services.

Unfortunately, sometimes orders can take longer than expected to arrive or are lost in transit. If your order has not been received within the following timeframes, please contact us as soon as possible either by Live Chat or at Hello@alexandriabooks.com.au.

Australia: 5 business days after the estimated delivery time
New Zealand: 10 business days after the estimated delivery time

The cut off time to make changes to an order is 1 day after placing the order.

If you need to modify an order in any way, please contact us either by Live Chat or at Hello@alexandriabooks.com.au as soon as possible. 

Please note, additional charges may apply depending on the nature of your order amendment (i.e. costs associated with re-directing shipments to another address). This will be determined on a case-by-case basis and advised upon contacting us. 

If you have received a product which is incorrect, damaged or faulty, please contact us immediately either by Live Chat or at Hello@alexandriabooks.com.au so that we can make amends as quickly as possible. Alexandria Books will require evidence of the issue and may require you to return the item (at no cost to you) for assessment.
